Schiff Super Calcium 1200 with Vitamin D, Softgels, 160 softgels

More than a year ago, my doctor told me to take calcium pills, at least 1,000 mg per day. I started taking Schiff Super Calcium 1200 mg pills. My doctor said that was good. In my medical exam today, my calcium was badly low and prescribed a much larger amount of calcium for me to take. I came home and while deciding the best way to get the calcium that I needed, I noticed that in very small letters on the back of the Super Calcium jar, it said that 2 pills were the serving size to get 1,200 mg. The very big 1200 mg printed on the front of the bottle was not the amount in each pill. No where does the product specifically say that each pill has only 600 mg. So, the company was deceptive with me. My health has suffered since I have been getting only about half as much calcium as was prescribed.

My strong opinion is that Schiff was knowingly and intentionally deceptive. Their deception has harmed me. There is no way that anyone should trust this company or brand.

I purchased Schiff Super Calcium 1200 mg. with Vitamin D because it appeared that one capsule would provide 1200 mg of calcium. That would allow me to take one capsule a day rather than two 600 mg. pills. However, the back label’s Supplement Facts states: Serving Size Two (2) Softgels, Calcium Amount per Serving 1200 mg. That means that each capsule contains only 600 mg of calcium, not the 1200 mg as stated on the front label. The front label is deceptive. I believe it is also a potential health/safety issue because a person believing he is getting 1200 mg calcium with one capsule is only getting 600 mg.

This is used by a family member and is for some reason becoming hard to find. Ordered and shipment arrived within a day or two. Long standing use, good product, good service; what more could you ask for.

These gel caps are huge, but I can swallow them without problem. I like that I only have to take 2 of these a day verses several like other products. I just ordered 3 more bottles.

There is no deception here for the sauvy vitamin user.

Read the label people. Every vitamin company I’ve been a consumer of for the past 40 years has made “entire dosage” statements on the front of the label. Many, many companies put their full dosage info into anywhere from 2 to 6 pills per day; this is not unusual — I don’t feel this is a deception. I’ve been happily taking Schiff calcium for two years now since I’ve had to find calcium that doesn’t trigger my new shellfish allergies. Thank you Schiff.
