How large is the Windows 7 Professional download from Microsoft?

Added to Internet on January 11, 2010 | 5 comments

Reader Question - I'm going to download the Windows 7 Professional operating system from Microsoft's website instead of ordering the disk. I'm curious though as to how large the file is going to be. I'm sure more than a few gigabytes, but does anyone know how large specifically?

Think a friend would enjoy this, or better yet - hate it? Share it with them!

A little over 3GBs. Burn it to a DVD for safe keeping.

PLEASE order the disk, i did the same thing and didn't work, i paid for it downloaded it (8 hours to be exact) and after that i wasn't able to install it, i tried everything, burnt it to a dvd, i ended up formatting my computer and installing it with a friends disk but using my activation code. it was a nightmare. and by the way the download its about 2.9 GB for the 64 bits and 2.5 for the 32
