How Can I Transfer My Itunes Library To My New Laptop?

I have lost my older iPod mini, but I have all of my songs on my iTunes library. The iTunes on my computer is an older edition, and the iTunes on my laptop is new (iTunes 7.3.2, I think,)
I tried plugging my new iPod nano into my older computer, but I got an error message saying that my new iPod nano was not compatible with the older edition of iTunes on my computer.
I tried to upgrade the iTunes on my computer, but it didn't work right.
I also tried to email my iTunes library to my new laptop using the 'Export' tool, but that didn't work, either. I got an error message saying that the iTunes on my new laptop couldn't find any of the songs that I sent.
What can I do? I really appreciate any help or advice that you guys could give. Thanks so much.

for the future you dont need iTunes... get an iRecord ( www.irecord.com) .. usually music channnels have music videos playing (sometimes even before the song is released) hook it upto your TV and record the song/music video depending on how you do it. Or if you know a site from where you can play the song fom hook up iRecord with your computer and save it (over 3 hours of video n audio per gig).. It'll save you time and money and you wont hae to dowload anything and it COMPLETELY legal as well (think digital VCR) hope it help :)

first get the newest version of itunes on your old laptop. then save your music folder on your old computer to another hard drive or a flash disk. next put all your data from your old music folder into your new one. then click on itunes, then itunes music. then press select+A and drag all your songs (the folders will actually be artists) right into itunes. that worked for me
